Nestled in the heart of the protected natural park of the Alpilles, this charming village has retained its authenticity. From the top of this perch, a breathtaking panorama of olive groves, green valleys and vineyards is offered to the eye.
The walk through the village leaves no one unmoved! The eye never ceases to be attracted by the pretty old houses along the winding streets, the fountains, the wash houses, the oratories. The charm works immediately! At the top of the rocky outcrop stands a statue of the Virgin and a tower topped by a bell in its campanile. From there, the view on the Alpilles is breathtaking.
For a well-deserved break, there is a choice of several cafés and restaurants that will delight your taste buds. On Friday mornings, Eygalières comes alive thanks to the Provencal market, a must: you can find all the local products: sun-drenched fruits and vegetables, cheeses, oil, honey, etc.
A little more than a kilometer from the village, don’t miss the Saint-Sixte chapel, framed by cypress trees. It is the iconic image of Romanesque art in Provence. Finally, Eygalières offers many routes for lovers of cycling, on small bucolic roads through magnificent landscapes.
